The Champions League is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. It is where the best of the best come together to compete at the highest level.

Each domestic league has its own unique qualities, so to see the greatest teams from each respective league battle it out is a privilege for football fans everywhere.

The winning team can claim dominance over Europe and revel in the glory until their title is taken away, so the stage upon which this crowning takes place is pretty important.

Over the years, we have seen some incredible stadiums host the Champions League final, but where will it take place over the next few years? Let’s take a look at some of the venues you can expect to see in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

2022: Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg, Russia

This upcoming final was originally scheduled to take place at a different venue, namely the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany. Taking place on 28th May, we’re yet to see who will play in this final but a few likely contenders are approaching.

The likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich, all have a chance of playing at the Krestovsky Stadium in mid-2022.

With a capacity of 67,800 people, this is a really impressive venue. This final will be the first UEFA Club Competition final to take place at the stadium since it was built.

Krestovsky Stadium has all sorts of unique features such as a retractable roof and retractable pitch (although we doubt they’ll be retracting the pitch during the Champions League final). It was originally built as one of the venues for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Plenty of state-of-the-art stadiums were built in Russia for that competition in preparation for the events that took place over the summer.

The stadium has hosted a wide variety of events that range from sporting competitions to music concerts. We can’t wait to see who plays in the final this season.

2023: Ataturk Olympic Stadium, Istanbul, Turkey

This is perhaps one of the most famous Champions League final venues of all time. It hosted the legendary 2005 CL final in which Liverpool faced off against AC Milan. After going 3-0 down, it looked as though Liverpool’s chances of winning were hopeless.

Through a miraculous turn of events, they brought it back to 3-3 and subsequently won on penalties, creating one of the most memorable nights in world football. Since then, the Ataturk Stadium has gone down in history as a special place.

Could we see another special night like that in 2023? Let’s hope so, as the stadium once again hosts the Champions League final.

Due to postponements around the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2023 final was originally scheduled to take place at Wembley Stadium but was moved to Ataturk Olympic Stadium. With a capacity of 74,753, it’s one of the largest football stadiums in the world.

It was named after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the first president of the Republic of Turkey.

2024: Wembley Stadium, London, England

Wembley Stadium is an iconic football venue. The current Wembley Stadium was rebuilt at the site of the previously demolished one and opened in 2007. It has already hosted the Champions League final twice, once in 2011 and once in 2013.

Overall this will be the 8th European final to take place at Wembley, as it has been centre stage throughout the history of world football.

Wembley featured heavily in the recent Euro 2020 competition, with England FC playing many of their games on home soil.

Wembley is also home to the FA Cup final, a domestic competition that takes place every year. Anyone who has attended Wembley during a final could tell you just how exciting it is. We also stock a variety of FA Cup tickets.

With a capacity of 90,000, it is a suitable venue for what could be considered the biggest game in club football. We can only guess who will be facing off against each other in 2024, as football is an ever-changing game with teams constantly battling it out for glory. But who will face off in the upcoming 2022 final?

Who Can We Expect To See Play In The Champions League Final?

It’s never easy to determine who will win the Champions League. Every team that enters the competition has an enormous amount of talent throughout their squads.

There have been some surprising winners over the years, such as Borussia Dortmund in 1997 and Liverpool in 2005. Could we see another surprise winner this year?

Current favourites are teams such as Manchester City, PSG, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid. Despite this, Manchester City has never won a Champions League trophy and Pep Guardiola has consistently failed to deliver any silverware in this particular area.

Similarly, Mauricio Pochettino has reached the Champions League final with Tottenham and failed to perform. His campaign with PSG last year ended in tears too.

Could he turn this around now that he has such a hugely talented group of players, including Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe?

You can’t rule out current champions Chelsea. The style of football they play under Thomas Tuchel is almost impenetrable defensively, whilst bolstering a huge attacking threat with the likes of Romelu Lukaku leading the line.

They also have some of the most talented young players around with Mason Mount and Kai Havertz. Could they retain their title this year and do the double?

Alongside this, you can never rule out teams such as Real Madrid and Liverpool, who are footballing royalty when it comes to Europe.

These teams are capable of pulling out special performances on magical nights, and that’s what makes the competition so appealing to so many people.

One thing is for certain, whoever plays at these magnificent stadiums in the upcoming Champions League finals, we’re set to see something special. Get your Champions League tickets today.
