What a season it has been. Two complete outsiders have battled it out for Premier League glory this season and it has been a joy to behold watching English stars leading from the forefront for their clubs.

Euro 2016 appears to be coming at a perfect time for Roy Hodgson’s men with confidence and belief perhaps higher than ever.

England have a reputation of throwing it all away, not turning up to the big occasions and crumbling under the ever present British media hype.

However, English expectation has lowered over the past few years and Euro 2016 may just be their time to spring a surprise of their own, following a domestic campaign that has had plenty.

Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur could have at least seven players in the squad between them and both sides players will undoubtedly have the bit between their teeth. The Leicester players will be looking to add to their recent league success, whereas the Spurs English contingent will be looking to end the season on a high after falling short in their title bid.

Leicester City’s inspiring title assault has captured the imagination and hearts of every football fan. Jamie Vardy looks set to lead the line for the Three Lions this summer in France and Europe’s top names will be keeping tabs on him over the month long tournament. He is well and truly a marked man. His Leicester team-mate, Danny Drinkwater is also pushing for a place on the plane after making his England debut in the recent friendly against Holland with his tenacity and range of passing he could be a shrewd addition, especially with Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshire battling for fitness.

Meanwhile, Spurs could see at least five of their players in the 23-man England party. Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all look set to travel.

Walker and Rose both pose a threat going forward with their pace and they have impressed defensively and formed a fine balance between knowing when to go forward and when to do their defensive duties.

In midfield, Eric Dier has been a shining light with his versatility in midfield and defense making him a good option for Roy Hodgson as he can also provide cover at centre-back, a position where England are lacking. Alli has been a breath of fresh air this season at Tottenham, his ability to ghost past opponents and bring other players into play is a particular strong point. More importantly for England, Alli’s partnership with Harry Kane has worked wonders this year and could continue to blossom this summer.

Finally, with so many English players having impressive seasons for their respective clubs, morale will surely be high in the camp. Despite the lack of apparent leadership with no John Terry or Steven Gerrard of previous years, the youthful approach may well work in England’s favour and they too could return as heroes come July.

The Leicester City story has definitely allowed football teams and fans to dream again, where seemingly, anything is possible. England should be full of confidence and optimism which begs to ask the question,  why can’t England win Euro 2016?
