As another action packed Premier League season draws to a close, Football Ticket Pad picks its Premier League team of the season.

The champagne is still pouring after Leicester City stunned the football world as they celebrated the biggest football upset by becoming Premier League champions for the first time in their history.

Many players have impressed and this season has without doubt proved why the Premier League is the best league on the planet. There has been numerous notable performers this season, but the Football Ticket Pad team of the season is as follows:

David De Gea: Has had another commanding season in between the sticks for Manchester United this season. Despite missing out on Champions League football next season, the stopper has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League and has single handedly carried United at times this season. De Gea just about pips the goalkeeping spot ahead of Kasper Schmeichel who was instrumental in Leicester City’s title triumph.

Hector Bellerin: The marauding full-back was a constant threat down the right flank and looked to get forward at every opportunity. The Spaniard has become an Arsenal regular this season. His attacking instincts were matched with resolute defending and he has helped Arsenal at both ends of the pitch this campaign, guiding them to an impressive second place finish.

Wes Morgan: Captain Morgan! Captain Fantastic! The defender has been a real leader this season for Leicester City and he has been a rock at the back playing every minute of every game in the league. Morgan’s performances were rewarded last week as he lifted the Premier League trophy aloft.

Toby Alderweireld: The Belgian formed a formidable defensive partnership with his Belgian compatriot Jan Vertonghen. The defender has had a superb season at Tottenham after signing from Southampton and has been a vital part of Spurs title challenge this season.

Aaron Cresswell: In his first season in the Premier League after signing from Ipswich Town the left-back has become one of the brightest talents in the Premier League, helping West Ham to their best ever league finish. The Liverpool born defender has played every minute of West Ham’s season and was awarded with West Ham United’s ‘Hammer of the Year’ award. Tottenham’s Danny Rose and Leicester City’s Christian Fuchs came close, but Creswell gets the nod from Ticket Pad.

Riyad Mahrez: The Algerian has been a joy to watch this season and was deservedly voted the PFA Player of the Year. Mahrez has been another of Leicester City’s key performers and his 17 goals and 11 assists helped him become of the Premier League’s most sought after players.

N’Golo Kante: He has been Leicester City’s unsung hero this season with incredible energy levels and knack of breaking up opponent attacks. Despite being small in stature, the Frenchman has been brick wall in midfield this season and has worked tirelessly in every game for The Foxes.

Dele Alli: The youngster has had a meteoric rise since signing for Spurs from MK Dons which has seen him become a key figure for both club and country. Alli has shown maturity way beyond his years and at the age of 20, there is still plenty more to come from the playmaker. Alli was rightly crowned PFA Young Player of the Year and his guile and creativity has led to him scoring 10 goals for Spurs this season.

Dimitri Payet: The former Lille man has thrived at West Ham and has been key in West Ham’s success this season. Payet has become a fan favourite and has already had comparisons to Zinedine Zidane from the West Ham faithful! His dead-ball set pieces have been a particular highlight for the Hammers and he has been influential all season and capable of winning games in an instant.

Harry Kane: After a stuttering start, Kane’s 25 goal haul to make him the Premier League top scorer this season makes it all the more impressive. The striker is perhaps one of the most complete centre forwards at the moment and he has shown real quality this season as Tottenham chased for the title.

Jamie Vardy: An unbelievable success story. It is hard to think that three years ago Vardy was playing non-league football. His pace and tenacity cannot be matched and he has proved to be a real handful this season. His record breaking feat of 11 goals in 11 consecutive games was a particular highlight in a stellar season for the forward who finished on 24 Premier League goals for the campaign.
