Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof arrived at the club following a record-breaking £31 million transfer from Benfica in the summer to make him the club’s record signing for a defender. The Sweden international has taken time to find his feet but has recently expressed how he is ‘living the dream’ playing for one of the best clubs in world football.

The 23-year-old completed another ninety minutes against Crystal Palace at the heart of defence as United came from two goals down to clinch a last minute 3-2 victory with goals from Chris Smalling, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.

United's No.2 has started each of United's last four games, during which they have seen off Chelsea, Huddersfield and Palace in the Premier League, including a hard-fought goalless draw with Sevilla in the Champions League. Two clean sheets would suggest United boss Mourinho is beginning to trust the centre-back who has taken time to settle into the rigours of English football.

The defender is relishing the competition for places ahead of some vital clashes between now and the end of the season with some fantastic deals available on all remaining Manchester United football tickets.

He told Sky Sports prior to the match against Crystal Palace on Monday: "Coming here to play at this great club has been a dream for me since I was a kid, so yeah - I enjoy it.

"I wake up every day and I'm very happy I get to come here and do what I love. I don't take anything for granted, I work hard every day.

"I'm just trying to do my best every day, work hard and improve. When you're given the chance to play, it's always nice to be out there and help the team, and I'm just happy to be out there doing that.

"We have world-class players in every position and I think that's very important to have. This club is one of the biggest clubs in the world, so you're obviously going to have that."

Lindelof has made 24 appearances this season, although only nine of those have been Premier League starts and the Manchester United defender is confident he can be a success at the club and play an integral role between now and the end of the campaign.

He admits that the English top-flight has been something of an eye-opener for him, with the standard considerably higher than that he experienced while impressing in Portugal. he said: "Every opponent is going to work hard, fight for 90 minutes to try to get three points, and that's what makes the Premier League such a good league, the level of competition. It was a bit different in Portugal, we had only a few big games during the season.”

Although the Premier League title may be beyond their reach, United they will be keen to finish second in the table ahead of their local rivals Liverpool who they face in a real ‘six pointer’ at Old Trafford this weekend. Manchester United v Liverpool tickets are still on sale with tickets still remaining for their Champions League and FA Cup fixtures.
